Arrival in Islamabad
Welcome to Pakistan. Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, our guides will meet you at the international arrivals gate (look for the orange placard with your name) and transfer you to the group hotel. The day is reserved for rest and recovery. A group briefing and orientation session will be held at 6:00 PM, followed by a welcome dinner. Altitude: 540m. Accommodation: Hotel. Meals: Dinner.
Flight to Skardu
This morning, we take a spectacular 45-minute flight from Islamabad to Skardu. Weather permitting, the flight offers extraordinary views of Nanga Parbat and the Karakoram peaks. Upon arrival, the rest of the day is free for you to acclimatize and enjoy the local atmosphere. Altitude: 2,498m. Accommodation: Hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Exploration and Preparation in Skardu
After breakfast, we hike to the historic Kharpocho Fort, perched on a mountain overlooking the Indus River and Skardu town. You may also choose to visit the serene Satpara Lake or explore the Skardu Bazaar. During this time, our staff will finalize the necessary government permits and documentation for the trek. Drive to Machulo via Khaplu
We depart Skardu for the Hushe Valley. En route, we visit Saling Spangtoq and the historic town of Khaplu. We continue to Machulo, a beautiful village in the Ghanche district surrounded by 6,000-meter peaks. The valley offers views of Laila Peak, K6, K7, and Masherbrum. Accommodation: Hotel/Guest House. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Trek to Camp I (Khadi Broq)
The trekking begins with a manageable 3-hour ascent following the Machulo main stream. We reach our first campsite, Khadi Broq, located at 3,800m. This gradual climb allows for proper acclimatization. We establish our camp here with full support from our guide and kitchen staff. Altitude: 3,800m. Accommodation: Full-service Camping. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Trek to Camp II (Qouli Brangsa)
Today’s trek is a gentle ascent toward our second camp. The trail leads us near the summer settlements of the Machulo people, where you can witness local life and traditional butter and cheese making. You will see cattle, sheep, and Zomo (a cross between a cow and a yak). Altitude: 4,150m. Accommodation: Full-service Camping. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Machulo La K2 Viewpoint
A steep but rewarding hike leads to the Machulo La viewpoint. From this high-altitude vantage point, you are treated to a 360-degree sweep of the Karakoram. The view includes K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, II, and IV, Masherbrum, and Nanga Parbat. You can also see the Siachen Glacier, Chorbat Valley, and the Indus and Shyok rivers. Altitude: 5,200m. Accommodation: Full-service Camping. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Trek back to Machulo
We begin our descent from the K2 viewpoint, trekking back down through the pastures and fields to reach Machulo village. The descent takes approximately 6 hours, allowing for a final look at the surrounding peaks. Accommodation: Hotel/Guest House. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Return to Skardu via Khaplu and Shigar
We travel back to Skardu by road. The return journey includes cultural stops at the iconic Khaplu Fort and Shigar Fort. We also visit the turquoise Upper Kachura Lake before checking into our hotel in Skardu for the night. Accommodation: Hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Return Flight to Islamabad
We take the domestic flight from Skardu back to the capital. Upon arrival in Islamabad, you will be transferred to your hotel for a well-earned rest. In case of flight cancellation due to weather, we will travel overland to Chilas (8-10 hours). Altitude: 538m. Accommodation: Hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner.
Contingency Day
A buffer day to protect against travel delays. If we traveled to Chilas the previous day, we will complete the drive to Islamabad today. If the flight was successful, this is a free day for sightseeing or shopping in Islamabad. Accommodation: Hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner.
Departure
Following breakfast, our staff will provide a timely transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your flight back home. Standard hotel check-out is at 12:00 PM. Meals: Breakfast.
