Overview

Rising above the legendary Concordia at the junction of the Baltoro, Godwin-Austen, and Gasherbrum Glaciers, Mitre Peak (6,010m) is one of the most recognizable summits in the heart of the Karakoram. The climb involves a combination of snow, ice, and rock, making it an excellent alpine objective for experienced mountaineers acclimatizing in the Baltoro region. From the summit, climbers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I & II, and the surrounding glaciated landscape. Mitre Peak is often attempted as a challenging trekking peak or as preparation for higher Karakoram expeditions.
